I've always wanted to lose my voice. The raspy-ness has always been so sexy to me but now that I've not been able to talk for the last 3 days, it's getting really old. So, if you call me today I will probably not answer.

This weekend, David and I saw Dan In Real Life and Elizabeth: The Golden Age. I loved Dan In Real Life. You should definitely, definitely see this movie even if you aren't a Steve Carell fan. I don't know who a person could NOT be a Steve Carell fan, but to each his own I guess.

There were a few parts in Elizabeth where I felt a swelling pride for England's Queen - and I'm not even British. Cate Blanchett is spectacular and her acting made up for the slow parts . . . the many, many slow parts.

Please tell me you've seen "The Jerk". David's sister, Elise, and I watched this movie and we almost had a fit watching this part:

Navin R. Johnson (after he lost all his money):

ClearPlay Movies of the Week

We watched Hot Fuzz last night on our ClearPlay DVD player. It was both hilarious and weird. Like, maybe, the weirdest movie I've ever seen and probably one of the most hilarious. I was laughing so hard! There were a few points in the movie where David and I looked at each other and said with raised eyebrows, "WHAT IS GOING ON? This is so bizarre!" I would definitely recommend watching the edited version. It's a British movie so the F bomb is used often and the gore is so insane that you have to just laugh because it's so fake (reference: Monty Python and the Holy Grail). Anyway, definitely really weird.

The other movies that we rented are Babel, 300 (I will not be watching this one) and Pan's Labyrinth. We're having a sleepover on Saturday night with our couple friends who are house-sitting a mansion but I can't decide which one we'll watch. I love movies and I LOVE ClearPlay.

Last night I had a dream that I bought a dog. I was sitting around with friends trying to think of a name for it and someone suggested Victor. "Great idea!", I said, "Then I can call him 'Vic' for short". What? Perhaps I subliminally want a Russian breed, but then again, I don't. My nieces and nephew's godparent's just got my dream dog. Those ears kill me!

Anyway, also last night, David and I received our ClearPlay USB and watched Little Miss Sunshine. I have been dying to watch it but due to the rating, I was forced to put off the watching for a few months until we purchased this filtering DVD player. It was such a great movie! I loved it. We also rented The Last Kiss, Shooter and The Good Shepherd. If you couldn't tell, the last two are my husband's pick.

My sister-in-law insists that I look just like Ashley Tisdale (a.k.a. "Sharpay" from High School Musical). I often think that this is not very good news but I can kind of see a resemblance in our coloring. Hmmm, I've been told that I look like Drew Barrymore (bleh) and Ashley Simpson (double bleh). Am I really that ditsy? Splendid.

We rented Avenue Montaigne this week and I highly recommend it if you don't mind

1) reading in subtitles

2) reading the occasional swear

This movie is 100% French and for that reason alone, it is fabulous. It's no Amelie but it has a nice plot, beautiful scenes, great acting and lots of humor . . . and j'adore Cécile De France.
