{april fools}

This year, I played the best April Fools joke ever! It may have to do with the fact that I waited ALL day to play the prank (and the anticipation got me all riled up) but it was soooo worth it. It was bedtime and while David finished up his homework before coming in to brush his teeth, I squeezed a little toothpaste out of his tube, pushed in a raisin and covered it back up. Perfect. Then I waited in anticipation with my phone handy and caught his perfect reaction as he came into the bathroom to brush. I don't know why it was so funny to me but I cannot have been more happy with the outcome (read: I laughed until I cried). {Other pranks I played: taped down my boss's phone receiver and then called her and watched her answer a dead phone (hee hee), taped a piece of paper on the bottom of her mouse so that it wouldn't quite move right (heard her mumble, "Da*# my mouse is dirty!")}

{aloha - hello and goodbye}

Well friends, we're off to Hawaii this afternoon for our anniversary tomorrow! Can you believe that we've been married for a whole year now? I really, really, really love my husband.

{the many faces of my links} will continue when we return. My brother, Strawbs, is next!

I leave you with this picture so that when you are missing me, you can remember that I am sitting on the beach like this. I am going to have such a good time!

Aloha!

{a dilemma}

The truth of this picture is astounding.

In other news . . .

After my brother sent out a creepy e-mail about blog stalkers, I've been feeling very scared about how public my blog is. Here are my options:

1) Go through each blog entry since May 2005 and omit true names and any indication of where I live.
2) Make my blog private and in the process completely screw myself over with any chance of selling my products on Etsy, forgo possibly rekindled relationships with long-lost friends and feel stupid for actually believing that people will log in to Blogger just to look at my boring blog.
3) Not be scared of blog stalking and take my chances.

Thoughts? I don't know what to do. My choice would be to do Option #1 but that would take me months! Does anyone know of an easier way to do this?

{sherlock holmes - cafe rio edition}

Getting your lunch stolen at work is not fun. Especially when it's a leftover Cafe Rio salad and fresh strawberries. This morning, I put my lunch in the refrigerator right by my desk in the break room. The thought of heating up that soggy tortilla and wrapping the rest of my salad up into a little burrito sounded delightful and I had specially sliced those strawberries to a perfect size. I really love leftover Cafe Rio so today was going to be a really good lunch day.

About an hour later, I went into one of our manager's offices. Let's call him "Smitty". Smitty was showing me some project renderings on his computer and as he tried to locate the pictures on his laptop, I noticed his half open desk drawer had a Ziploc bag of fresh strawberries tucked inside. Most suspicious.

After a quick trip to the restroom, I opened the fridge to grab a bottle of water - no salad. No strawberries. I quickly interrogated the office manager, asking her if she had cleaned out the refrigerator that morning. The answer was no but her solution (after I told her about the suspicious strawberries at his desk) was to root through his desk drawers when he went to the bathroom. Not a good plan. So, I sent out an e-mail to the entire office staff that went like this, "I had a bag of fresh strawberries and a plate of food in a tin foil container that I put in the fridge this morning. It is now gone. Did anyone happen to take it or throw it away? Please let me know cause that's my lunch. Thanks."

Very simple-like.

A few minutes later, Smitty arrived at my desk with a bag of strawberries in his hand. "Elizabeth, this morning, I accidentally knocked over your salad onto the floor {my heart breaks a little} while reaching for a Diet Coke. I thought these strawberries were leftovers from yesterday. I'll buy you lunch if you want."

Well, Smitty, I don't want a new lunch. I want my Cafe Rio leftovers!

9.20.2007

I don't normally think that dogs dressed up in clothing are funny (who am I kidding? who doesn't?) but when Jack sent these to me, I just knew I had to post them now that you all know about that crazy man I work with. I am dedicating these pictures to my blogging friend, Kelly McCaleb, the world's most devoted Star Wars fan.

. . . but these last 3 are just plain funny.

Friday's Joke

You might be a redneck if you (or your wife) are quoted in the newspaper for saying this:

Friday Joke

George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi was going to bed one night when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?". George replied, "No." Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when available.

George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30 and phoned the police again.

"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I've just shot them." Then he hung up.

Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response Unit, and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence and caught the burglars red-handed. One of the Policemen said to George: "I thought you said that you'd shot them!" George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"

Have a great weekend!

Friday's Joke (because I have nothing else to blog about)

Stumpy and his wife Martha went to the state fair every year. Every year Stumpy would say, "Martha, I'd like to ride in that there airplane." And every year Martha would say, "I know Stumpy, but that airplane ride costs ten dollars, and ten dollars is ten dollars."

One year Stumpy and Martha went to the fair and Stumpy said, "Martha, I'm 71 years old. If I don't ride that airplane this year I may never get another chance." Martha replied, "Stumpy, that there airplane ride costs ten dollars, and ten dollars is ten dollars." The pilot overheard them and said, "Folks, I'll make you a deal, I'll take you both up for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and not say one word, I won't charge you, but if you say one word it's ten dollars." Stumpy and Martha agreed and up they went. The pilot did all kinds of twists and turns, rolls and dives, but not a word was heard. He did all his tricks over again, but still not a word. They landed and the pilot turned to Stumpy, "By golly, I did everything I could think of to get you to yell out, but you didn't."

Stumpy replied, "Well, I was gonna say something when Martha fell out, but ten dollars is ten dollars."
